I no longer use BM, but I think I've installed it in as little as 32MB before (I also stored DOS versions of DriveImage and PartitionMagic in the FAT partition). Installed Vista dual boot, think I screwed up!
The thing I'm worried about is that the basic problem is I installed XP while the C: Win98SE partition was not hidden, resulting is no available drive letters until H. If C: is now set to hidden when XP loads, C: will be assigned for the XP partition. Ive read that XP isn't able to cope with it's drive letter being

Want to Install W2K XP into a Separate Partition
However, my WinME partition isn't really hidden from XP at all, even though it is marked to be. XP knows all and sees all - just like W2K did. You can defrag that ME drive from XP, for instance. However, I don't want my drive letters changing, and it does keep two drive C's if you use Boot Magic and "hide" the OS

Newbie install / partition problems

XP Partition: How to change location?
I reccomend putting partition magic with win98 later also. So, assuming you have XP booting on the first primary partition as C:, You'll have a second, hidden primary fat32 partitoin that will be win98, also C: and a logical drive D:. Run partition magic and *hide the xp partition*, *Unhide the second* / win98

install 98SE on XP machine
If BM is setting the active partitions as a result of your selection, presumably you only get the second menu choices when you boot to your XP partition. As the win98 partition is then hidden by BM, there must be another OS (perhaps just DOS) on your XP partition. You need to work out exactly what is happening here

Desparate for help
A new partition with the old one hidden is the same thing as a scratch install. Except your old OS is still around, still usable, and all your old apps are Then I'll install XP into the C: partition. A novice calling...Help.."Power Profile not loading..!!!"
However, once W98 is installed the boot manager can be reconfigured to make the XP partition visible to Windows (if it's FAT32) - assuming, of course, that the boot manager supports that functionality. In any case, the W98 partition will always be visible to XP unless deliberately hidden using the boot manager

I think the way the laptop works is that it just boots the first hidden partition if F9 is pressed otherwise it finds the active partition and boots that. I assume that the recovery partition just contains a clone image, rather than a copy of an installation DVD. Bootitng allows me to clone the XP partition,
